In a bid to entrench its technology further into hyper-scale datacentres, Intel on Wednesday showcased chip innovations that will see the manufacturer turn up the heat on rivals AMD and ARM for the datacentres of cloud service providers.
HP released its Q4 financial results for 2013 Tuesday and the company reported revenues of $29.1bn, the best quarter so far this year and the first without sequential decline since the same quarter a year ago. In a call with analysts Tuesday evening HP president and chief executive officer Meg Whitman summed the results up fairly well: “I’m pleased with the progress we have made but we still have a lot of work to do.”
Technology giant IBM announced plans this week to invest another $1bn into Linux technologies including a new Linux research centre for the company’s developers, clients and partners to collaborate on Linux projects tailored to the IBM’s Power Systems offerings.
