Apple opens up cloud productivity suite to challenge Google, Microsoft

Apple is opening up iCloud apps to those that don't own Apple devices

Following a brief open beta period Apple has decided to open up its cloud-based productivity apps to users regardless of whether or not they own an iOS device. The move could bolster the firm’s appeal in the enterprise, where its productivity software loses out to cloud-based services delivered by the likes of Microsoft and Google.

Microsoft announced Tuesday that Satya Nadella will indeed take on the role of chief executive officer at the software company effective immediately. The company’s founder Bill Gates will also be stepping down as chairman to assume a more hands-on role on the board as a technology advisor.
