Hosting, cloud and colocation service provider LeaseWeb has expanded its presence in Germany with the launch of a CloudStack-based flat fee private cloud service. The platform, originally launched in the US last year, is hosted in its Tier III datacentre in Frankfurt. The move may be a sign CloudStack is still gaining traction among service providers at a time when industry marketeers seem laser focused on its open source rival OpenStack.

The move comes as some voice concerns that vendors aren’t doing enough to educate enterprises on the benefits of moving their core services over to the cloud.

Interoute, owner and operator of one of Europe’s largest cloud based services platforms on Wednesday announced that it has extended its offerings to include a dedicated cloud storage solution from NetApp, an American-based provider of integrated network storage. This means that NetApp Storage Virtual Machine customers will be able to tap into Interoute’s Virtual Data Centre comprising five virtual data centre zones in Amsterdam, Berlin, Geneva, London and Paris – all integrated into the heart of Interoute’s pan European cloud platform and connected by its high capacity fibre optic network.
