Microsoft said the Cloud Platform System (CPS) blends all of the architectural, design, operational and technological experience the company has generated over the years in building out Azure, with Dell hardware – Dell PowerEdge servers, storage, and networking switches.
HP has updated its CloudSystem platform to include its distribution of OpenStack in a converged private cloud offering. Paul Morgan, HP’s cloud head in EMEA told BCN the company is looking to broaden its support for hybrid cloud deployments.
Converged infrastructure vendor Nebula, one of the first companies to pioneer integrated OpenStack-based private cloud hardware, announced it will close its doors this week.
Air France has tapped HP’s private cloud automation and deployment technology in a bid to reduce deployment times and infrastructure management costs, the company said.
HP released its Q4 financial results for 2013 Tuesday and the company reported revenues of $29.1bn, the best quarter so far this year and the first without sequential decline since the same quarter a year ago. In a call with analysts Tuesday evening HP president and chief executive officer Meg Whitman summed the results up fairly well: “I’m pleased with the progress we have made but we still have a lot of work to do.”
