‘S-Cloud’ and Google Drive to enter storage market by next week

Google and Samsung will both join the cloud storage market within the next 10 days, if rumours circulating in the US are correct. Google’s Dropbox-style cloud storage ‘Drive’ has been the centre of speculation for some time and is expected to launch this week, while industry insiders are also claiming Samsung could launch a rival to Apple’s iCloud on 3rd May.

Apple looks for help with new cloud facility

Apple is on the lookout for expert help in the form of a new data centre manager, as it begins to expand its iCloud storage facility in North Carolina and begin work on its new data centre in Prineville, Oregon. Both facility builds will form part of the tech giant’s bid to increase server capacity, as more and more consumers switch to iCloud for storage capabilities.

iCloud key feature in Apple TV and iPad launch

Apple moved one step closer to the Cloud TV vision yesterday, with its new TV launch. Released alongside the new HD iPad (candidly third generation, but not called iPad3), Apple TV will now incorporate iCloud into its current TV set-up, allowing users to access all their content seamlessly across multiple Apple devices.

Cloud about to take video games to a new level?

A report published by tech giants, Intel this week, states cloud computing could be responsible for a major shift in the way video gaming, and also digital animation, is currently developed, harnessing a technique called ‘ray tracing’ to generate higher realism for gaming, not only for use on specialist consoles, but for mobile platforms too.
