10th June 2011
The shortlist for the 2011 Cloud Computing World Series Awards was announced yesterday, with a total of 25 technology companies now competing to win one of ten prestigious categories. The winners will be unveiled on 21st June, at the Cloud Computing World Forum in London.
Strong competition
According to a press release from the World Series organisers, the 2011 awards received a record number of entrants this year, with competition for a place on the shortlist “intense”.
Among those shortlisted were some of the biggest names in cloud computing, including Microsoft, HP, VMWare and Rackspace, with the latter two companies receiving two nominations each in different categories.
Other notables on the shortlist include California-based Abiquo, who, after just five years in operation, have already been listed as a 2011 Gartner “Cool Vendor” and are now up for the Best Cloud Management Solution award, and Savvis who were recently given the accolade of Best European Cloud Services at the 2011 Data Centres Awards.
European vendors recognised
The European contingent was also represented, with Irish company iSpaces nominated in the Best Start-Up category for its innovative CloudBrowser™ VDI browsing technology, and UK-based Symplified, nominated for Best Security Solution.
An expert judging panel will now deliberate over the winning entrants, which will be announced 21st June at the Cloud Computing World Forum, and presented with trophies.
