Okta offer free service trial for enterprises

Okta free trial offer24th May 2011

While the name might not be that recognisable outside the US at present, IT service provider Okta are about to make themselves a desirable cloud option for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) and enterprises across the globe, by offering a free trial of their identity and access management service to new customers.

According to a press release from the Silicon Valley-based company, the self-service Free Trial, available from 4pm today, will provide 30-day access to the Okta Standard Edition identity management service, allowing IT administrators to “quickly and easily deploy an enterprise-class identity management solution in just minutes.”

By deploying Okta, IT groups of all sizes can streamline budgets and operations while offering a high-quality and easy-to-use service to end users. The free trial offer coincides with Okta’s introduction of a number of product enhancements, including:

• A ‘Getting Started Guide’ and library of how-to videos that provide step-by-step guidance for using the Okta service
• Significant usability enhancements, including an admin dashboard and additional workflows to accelerate user and application import and deployment
• New reporting capabilities that provide more insight into application usage, ROI and compliance.

The company’s CEO, Todd McKinnon hopes the combination of the new updates and free trial will help Okta expand beyond the North American market they are currently building a strong foothold in:

“We’ve taken all the best practices of the consumer web and the cloud in general and made it easy to use, so small and mid-sized enterprises anywhere can deploy our identity and access management services without having to spend excessive time integrating the solutions.

“If you look at the industry as a whole, the first wave of SaaS was targeted at functions such as finance, sales, HR, and marketing. With Okta, we’re now bringing that same ease of use and ROI to Enterprise IT. New solutions are required to manage and secure a Cloud First IT infrastructure and our online free trial and new product editions are great examples of how Okta is delivering a robust, enterprise class identity management service with an ease of use and low price point that traditional on-premise vendors simply cannot match.

“So far it has worked well for us in the US, with a number of SMEs ranging in size signing up to our services. Now we’re hoping this offer will attract new customers from Europe, Asia and also help build our North American base further; giving as many SMBs as possible the chance to experience the quality of service we deliver in the process.”
