TNT is upgrading its IT infrastructure

International logistics firm TNT has selected Verizon Enterprise Solutions to help the company implement a managed cloud-based unified communications platform. The move is part of the logistics firm’s broader IT overhaul.

The move, part of TNT’s broader IT simplification and transformation strategy initiated last year, will see Verizon deploy and help manage a high-capacity network for the logistics firm’s 3,000-plus hubs and depots worldwide as well as a range of cloud-based communications services including video, audio and net conferencing.

“Major transformation projects such as the one TNT is undertaking are always fascinating, but there are challenges,” said Rich Montgomery, Verizon’s EMEA general manager. “We are always mindful of the trust that our customers place in our ability to help them realize their business goals, and we work hard to ensure that trust is not misplaced. It’s truly a question of effective teamwork, and with TNT we have a great partnership that we know will reap rewards.”

As part of the move Verizon will manage network and operations for TNT, which the company said would help free up IT resources at the firm.

Since 2014 TNT has been in the process of upgrading its IT infrastructure. Earlier this year the firm selected HP in a deal that will see the logistics firm consolidate and virtualise its infrastructure estate and move some of its applications into an HP Helion private cloud environment.
