Wipro and Software AG are teaming up to jointly offer an Internet of things streaming analytics platform

Enterprise vendor Software AG and outsourcing giant Wipro are teaming up to joining offer a platform for streaming analytics generated by Internet of Things sensors and devices.

The firms are using a technology developed by Wipro called ‘Looking Glass’, which is effectively an analytics engine for high-velocity data that can be hosted both on premise and in the cloud (or multiple clouds), as the basis of the platform, and will use Software AG’s Big Data Streaming Analytics product suite as the front-end.

The companies said the solution is designed to integrate, capture, analyse and respond to IoT data  in real-time, and will include support for in-memory databases.

“IoT poses a completely new challenge to system designers” said Audi Lucas, senior architect – connected products, manufacturing & hi-tech industries, Wipro Ltd. “It’s about architectures that can continuously analyse streaming data, make smart decisions in very short timeframes and intelligently evolve system behaviour. It’s about the business impacts this can yield: taking advantage of opportunities, reducing cost and navigating around threats in real-time.”

The platform is being pitched to verticals that commonly deal with large volumes of high-velocity data like financial services, manufacturing, supply chain and telecommunications.

“The key to successfully addressing the IoT market is the ability to rapidly build and evolve apps that tap into, analyse and make smart decisions on fast, big data”, said John Bates, global head of industry solutions and chief marketing officer at Software AG.

“This partnership addresses these requirements by combining Wipro’s dedicated Software AG product practice, support services and a sharp industry focus with Software AG’s industry leading Streaming Analytics product suite,” he concluded.
