NTT and Fortinet are partnering to provide enterprises managed security services

NTT is teaming up with network security specialist Fortinet to provide enterprise cloud customers with managed security services.

As part of the deal NTT plans to offer a jointly developed software security appliance service that can be deployed in a customer’s private cloud, and will enable on-demand deployment of basic security capabilities such as cloud intrusion prevention system (IPS), antivirus and antispam, and traffic filtering.

The company also plans to release an appliance for web application firewalls after the first quarter this year and additional functions in Q2.

“I am delighted to collaborate with NTT Com in providing an innovative cloud security service. This is a new milestone in our eight-year partnership with NTT Com,” said Fortinet chief executive officer Ken Xie.

“The need to integrate security functions for the protection of confidential information and other important corporate assets are increasing as companies shift to cloud services and infrastructure. We look forward to meeting customer expectations through this collaboration,” he added.

Managed security is set to become a sizeable market according to analysts, with Gartner predicting the market for cloud-based security services will reach $3.17bn this year and rise to $4.1bn by 2017.
