Scott-Cowell: ‘Demand for cloud-based comms is growing steadily’

The UK-based European arm of cloud-based communication services provider 8×8 has announced it has opened a new office in London in a bid to cater to growing demand as businesses look to replace their legacy telephony with more flexible, less costly comms infrastructure.

The company’s new London office will help the company serve UK and European customers.

Kevin Scott-Cowell, chief executive officer of 8×8 Solutions said that in recent years the company has seen a significant rise in interest in its cloud-based unified communications, contact centre and collaboration services.

“This interest is being driven by the growing awareness of businesses, across all sizes and sectors, as to the substantial business benefits and competitive edge that cloud communications can deliver,” Scott-Cowell explained.

“With demand growing for our services, plus growing confidence in an improving economy, this really is an exciting time for 8×8 and its channel partners. We are working hard to make sure that we are able to take full advantage of the increasing business opportunities we are seeing,” he added.

The move comes as competitors like BT double down on unified communication services. The company recently announced it would white label RingCentral’s cloud-based communications platform, and offer the service to its business customers.

8×8 said it expects the market for unified communications to pick up significantly as the UK economy improves, and as UK business look to replace they legacy telephony and implement more flexible, cost-effective communications infrastructure. According to MarketsandMarkets the UK unified communications as a service segment is expected to reach $13.1bn this year, and grow at a compound annual growth rate of 12.2 per cent to reach $23.3bn by 2019 as enterprises look to tap into cloud-based comms.
