Top cloud executives have reportedly left SAP this week, including the global president of cloud Bob Calderoni

One top cloud executive has resigned and a second is reported to have left German software giant SAP, both just over a year after joining the company.

Bob Calderoni, who up until now served as president of SAP’s cloud business joined the company following its $4.3bn acquisition of networking and procurement IT services firm Ariba in 2012, where he was chief executive officer.

SAP spokespeople have confirmed Calderoni’s departure in a statement to Business Cloud News and said he will continue to remain close to the company: “After successfully leading the transition of Ariba into SAP, Bob Calderoni has taken the decision to leave SAP. We have benefitted greatly from Bob’s vision in building SAP’s leadership in the cloud, and we are grateful that Bob will remain as a strategic advisor to the managing board.”

According to multiple reports Kevin Costello, who was put in charge of Ariba once it was acquired by SAP, has also left the company but SAP has not confirmed his departure.

As part of the reshuffle, SAP said that Shawn Price, president of SuccessFactors – the human capital management firm acquired for $3.4bn by SAP in 2012 – will serve as president of SAP’s global cloud business. The company also said it plans to make “additional organisational announcements” in the coming weeks in a bid to simplify its organisation globally as cloud continues to dominate the core of its current and forthcoming activities.

Calderoni, who led Ariba as it transitioned away from professional services towards a more cloud-centric model, may be following in the footsteps of SuccessFactors founder Lars Dalgaard, who oversaw SAP’s cloud business before leaving last spring to join tech venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz. Darlgaard still advises SAP on its cloud strategy.

UPDATE: SAP have now confirmed that like Bob, Kevin is leaving the company but will stay on as an adviser.
